“Abstract art # 235″ extra large triptych blue abstract waterfalls Dapore

waterfalls blue abstract paintingAbstract art #235

by artist Theo Dapore

extra-large triptych three canvas panel sectional set

Original acrylic 72 inches width by 30  inches height

or roughly 180 width by 75 height centimeters

Back wrapped canvases with painted sides.

This painting was painted in a unique way.

The artist Theo Dapore to date is 55 year old.

He has had back problems off and on for many years.

This was his final painting for the day. He had produced two

painting prior and had already put in 10 hours.

Most of his paintings are wet into wet painted flat on a low table.

With his back aching he could not bear to bend over the 30 inches

to reach the top of the painting and repetitively cross hatch and blend.

Grabbing a squeeze bottle of phaltho blue that had been thinned with water.

He squired  the mixture on the three canvas set in horizontal lines.

(The linage is evident in the upper part of the painting.)

Squirting another bottle of some type of water mixture over the whole

of the triptych. Then taking a broom that was in the corner of the studio.

This was a cheap dollar store broom with course plastic bristles. He put the broom

into a pale of straight water and mopped over the painting. This didn’t surprise me in the least.

I’ve seen Theo paint with scraps of Styrofoam. Remnants, that is the material he uses to ship all paintings in.

Plastic that the canvas comes wrapped in.

Foam rubber, wood pieces, thin aluminium

and I’ve seen him take hands full of paint slap it on a canvas and finger paint.

Anyhow, after getting the blue on the canvas Theo put the broom into

a two gallon container of white gesso. And abstracted the waterfall with a few simple

broad strokes of the broom.

He was happy with the outcome of the painting and

relieved he didn’t have to bend over with the long handle of the broom.

The painting was listed with boundlessgallery.com.

Boundless gallery is no longer online.

About a week later the painting was purchased.

The buyer  is a professor of bio-chemistry

located in Stockholm, Sweden.

landscape 138 abstract textured smeared paintLandscape 138

by artist Theo Dapore

Stretched wrapped canvas 36 high by 18 high.

Experimental technique smearing painting with

a palette knife in long sweeping motion. The palette knife

was custom designed by the artist. It is enormous in size

compared to  standard artist equipment. Fashioned from

carbon steel the metal was cut to Theo’s specifications at a

local machine shop.  In matter of fact the artist has four

custom knives. With designs for several others yet to be made.

A ongoing joke around the studio . Theo would take a regular

palette knife and then one of his jumbo custom made knives.

Mimicking a Australian accent  say “That’s not a knife,

now that’s a knife” a play off a line in one of the Crocodile Dundee movies.

I believe the artist has every style brush  ever made. Though he

has all of the artistic equipment. He fancies using a hand full of brushes.

Most of them are cheap household painters brushes. The one in particular

most used is a three inch wide brush with tampered edges. Theo moves a  mass

amount of paint with this large brush. I can’t believe some of the small delicate

work he can do with such a large instrument.  Some paintings are painted with

this large brush exclusively other than a few small details and his signature.

Dapore’s signature is done with a quill liner brush and is large. It is incorporated into

finished piece almost as part of the design.

We will be showing some more pictures of

Theo Dapore paintings

using this technique along

with other

experimental approaches to unique artwork.

Flaming, sunset landscape painting, the sky as a glow, abstract, by Theo Dapore

glowing abstract landscape

Sunset abstract landscape

Intense and vibrant. The use of color creates a radiant sunset.
A small amount of teal adds pop to the mid-ground. A unique mix of artistic techniques are used and pulled together to create this beautiful unique execution on canvas.

Artistic techniques: wet into wet blending where full strength colors are applied directly on the canvas. The wet colors are blended and moved, some color mix and create a harmonious continuity. Areas  of the wet paint have been manipulated with a palette knife. Bleeds or water distortion evident in the water reflection. Back carving where a few areas of wet paint are scraped and lifted out with a knife.  The finishing touch the tree silhouette a thick deposit of paint added by the palette knifes sharp edge. This creates a 3-D effect.

The painting is a original acrylic painting.
Cotton canvas on a wood support frame.
Back wrapped with the sides painted ebony black.
No additional framing needed.
Wired and ready to hang.

Size: 15 high by 30 wide in inches.

Signed and dated by artist Theo Dapore

Last Apple 133 black white abstract landscape poem and paintLast Apple 133

Abstract landscape in black and white.

Acrylic on canvas stretched gallery wrapped.

Size is 18 high by 36 wide.

Last Apple is a poem and painting series.

The Last Apple”

Life or Death, But who decides?
Propagation, From where derived?
So many winters, I’ve slept away.
But to awaken, That spring day.
Though not this time, Begin my fears.
I wish I could, Reclaim my years.
I once was strong, The bell has tolled.
I once was young, But now am old.
In this land, No seeds are sown.
All my children, Now are gone.
All but one, He stays within.
Perhaps to let me live again.
This Last Apple, Last chance at life.
This Last Apple, He helps me cope.
This Last Apple, Renews my hope.
Theo Dapore

To date The has painted over 300 originals

of this series.

No prints have been made available.

The artist feels that a print market in this

time of his career would undermine the

value of owning the originals.

The majority have been painted in acrylic

and a few in oil. Oil paintings take quit

some time to dry. Whereas  acrylic

dries at a rapid rate.

Someone said

” The good thing about acrylic is that is dries fast,

the bad thing about acrylic is that it dries fast.”

Theo will be painting more in this series and this

is the place to catch a glimpse of his new releases.

After all this is the website of Theo Dapore.

avatarI just wanted to say how pleased we were with our paintings. Theo took the trouble to ensure that they were sent to England in perfect condition. They are wonderful and we really love them. Highly recommended.
