Extra Extra large abstract [ 48 x 96 ] Huge abstract painting]

giant mural size abstract paintingAbstract art 501

Extra large abstract , Huge painting

single canvas

48 high by 96 wide in inches

or roughly

120 height by 240 width in centimeters

48×96 inches equals 4×8 feet Giant

Original acrylic on linen.

This painting is a bit different than Dapore’s normal workings.

Instead of the normal cotton duct canvas Theo’s choice the finer mesh lighter weight linen.

The painting approach is large water bled acrylic. The acrylic is painted directly on the raw linen

which absorbed the acrylic water mixed readily. A greater effect obtained, with cotton primed canvas

the flooding of the acrylic doesn’t bite in as well.

There is not of techniques to go into detail as I would normally describe in  depth the step by step process

of a painting.

The paint was applied with a water solution to create a consistency much like a watercolor painting.

With the huge size of the canvas Theo worked quickly adding layer upon layer of paint that would softly

blend into the underlying wet paint. Some areas  the straight water solution was applied which lifted color.

The small image that you can see on your screen is nothing compared to standing in front of this

enormous piece of art.

One interesting point is that the painting may be displayed as pictured or flipped 180.

The painting is still in the Studios possession if there is a interest contact the studio.

“Splatter art” by artist painter Theo Dapore

abstract art splatter paintingSplatter art 538

by artist Theo Dapore

three canvas group sectional set panels triptych

Original acrylic on stretched canvases.

Large 24 high by 36 wide in inches

or roughly

60 height by 90 width in centimeters.

Three canvases of 12 by 24 inches.

Back wrapped with painted sides.

This acrylic painting was just completed today and is available.

About the painting.

The center canvas red was painted with a three inch common household painters brush.

Theo prefers the brand that the local dollar store stocks. Though I believe he has every artistic brush

every made. The studio is full of brushes but he primary paints with this over-sized cheap brush.

Theo can paint fairly fine with the brush  which is amazing to watch. He stands the brush on end

leans it so just the very edge  touches and softly strokes  the canvas. I have seen strokes that are about

a quarter of an inch. Not bad for using  a three inch utensil.

Well after the red was applied the black edging was applied  using a small squeeze bottle and liquefied

ebony black. Just after its application  the black is raked with one of his custom made jumbo palette knives.

In a earlier post I have gone into detail about the knives Theo designed.

The outer set of canvases where painted using the three inch brush with water down paint.

The effect is similar to a watercolor painting. Allowed to set until almost completely dry.

At that point he drizzled on a bit of black and red and with his large palette knife grabbed

large amounts of white and flung it on the outer panel duel.  Working quickly he moved

the paint around. Some areas scrapping to lift paint and depositing the accumulation from the

knife edge  in other areas.

While still wet Theo used three squeeze bottles with liquefied red white and black.

With a hard wrist snap threw the paint on the three canvases. One throw of the white finished in a swirlling motion.

As well as the red was swirled and not throw.

The finishing touch of the Dapore signature was done with a script liner quill.

Theo most always signs his paintings with a large bold fluid flowing writing that actually becomes part of the design.

Added are three medium heavy coats of matte varnish. The addition of water or the water solution breaks down the permanence of the acrylic. The heavy application of varnish adsorbs deep into the softened acrylic area and replaces the lost binding of the paint. The varnish is ultra violet protectorate and   has a harder finish than that of the acrylic.

“Abstract art 478″ thrown splatter abstract red black white

abstract red black whiteAbstract art 478

Original acrylic painting by artist painter Theo Dapore

abstract painting in red, black and white

Triptych ( three canvas sectional set)

triple canvases of  12″ by 24″

24 height by 36 width in inches

or roughly

60 high by 60 wide in centimeters

Throw splattered and drizzled painting

Each canvas is gallery wrapped with painted sides.

Picture shows panels butted together.

They may be spread apart leaving a gap

between each painting creating a illusion in which the eye will connect the segments.

The central canvas of a reddish base was brush painted.

The outer two canvases where created using a liquidized black acrylic with water.

Put into a squeeze dispenser and squirted or drizzled on to the canvases.

The bottom section has a distortion with a liquid solution.

At the top of the paintings the black was allowed to almost dry.

Using one of Theo’s jumbo custom made  palette knives the area was raked

which produce the fine dot texture.

Red lines where added to the composition. This was done

with liquidized paint in a larger bottle and extreme

centrifugal force was used.

Theo likes throwing paint. He says it is therapeutic.

The center or main point of interest was made

by drizzling on some black.  Over top of the wet black

the artist threw full strength white using a plastic bottle with a open top.

Again much force was used and the paint splattered and create a centipede effect.

At this point a palette knife carved into the wet paint and it was moved around to the artist liking.

By the way, the studio has a lot of plastic sheeting put up.
